Law Firm Website Cost in Australia: Published Market Ranges for 2026

Published Australian ranges for a small business website cluster around $2,000 to $10,000, with law-firm-specific pages quoting from under $2,000 for a simple site. Custom builds and larger sites cost more. Every figure below comes from a commercial publisher selling or brokering web design, so treat them as indications, not benchmarks.

Published ranges

We collected figures from Australian pages published or updated in 2026. Each publisher sells web design services or connects buyers with providers, which is labelled in the sources. Prices are as each page states them. Bark says its prices exclude GST; the other pages do not all say, so check GST treatment in any quote.

What's The Damage?Sydney integrated or larger site$15,000 to $40,000 [4]

Creative Baguette's page is the only one here written specifically about law firm websites. The others describe small business websites generally, which is the closest comparison for most small and mid-sized practices.

Hourly rates

Bark lists Australian design rates of $80 to $120 an hour for junior or freelance designers, $120 to $160 for mid-level designers, $160 to $250 for senior designers and agencies, and $150 to $300 for specialist developers [3]. Hourly figures matter most for changes after launch and for work outside a fixed quote.

Ongoing costs

ItemPublished range
Domain name$10 to $50 a year [2]
Shared hosting$20 to $50 a month [2]
Managed WordPress hosting$50 to $150 a month [2]
Law firm hosting and care plan (one studio's offer)From $97 a month plus GST [1]

WP Creative also lists agency security and managed plans at much higher monthly prices [2]. Those are aimed at larger organisations; most small firms will not need them.

What moves the price

Number of practice areas and lawyers

Each practice area page and profile needs writing, design and review. A sole practitioner with three areas is a very different project from a twenty-lawyer firm with twelve areas and three offices.

Who writes the copy

Writing can be a large share of the work on a law firm site, because it involves interviewing lawyers, drafting and getting approval. Supplying finished copy lowers the price; having it written usually improves consistency.

Custom design or template

A purchased theme adapted to your branding costs less than a design drawn for the firm. The trade-off is that a template may need compromises in layout, accessibility or speed.

Compliance and review time

Personal injury pages in Queensland, accredited specialist wording and fee statements all need careful review. That time should be in the quote.

Moving an existing site

Redesigns need an audit, a redirect map for every old address and checks after launch; our website redesign page describes those steps. That is real work, but it protects the search visibility the current site has.

Integrations

Booking tools, practice management intake forms, newsletter sign-ups and client portals add set-up and testing time.

Comparing quotes

When quotes differ widely, check what each one includes:

  1. How many pages, and is copywriting included?
  2. Is the design custom or based on a template?
  3. Who owns the domain, hosting account and site files at the end?
  4. Is accessibility testing against WCAG 2.2 AA included?
  5. Are redirects from the old site included?
  6. What happens after launch: is there a care plan, and what does it cost?
  7. How are changes charged, and at what hourly rate?

A cheaper quote that excludes copywriting, redirects and accessibility checks can end up costing more once those are added.

Ownership and handover

Price is not the only thing to compare. Before signing, confirm in writing that the firm will own:

  • The domain name, registered in the firm's name with its own login, not the designer's.
  • The hosting account, or at least full administrator access to it.
  • The site files and content, including the right to move them to another provider.
  • Any licences for fonts, themes, plug-ins or photographs used on the site, so they do not lapse if you change provider.

What's The Damage? makes the same practical point in its Sydney guide, advising that the domain, hosting account and content management login be registered in the buyer's name [4]. A low quote that leaves these with the supplier can become expensive later, when moving the site means starting again.

Our own pricing

This guide lists market figures from other publishers. What our law firm website design service includes is set out on its own page, and how Lawquendrix scopes and quotes its own work is explained on the pricing page.

Questions people ask

What is a reasonable budget for a small law firm website in Australia?

The published ranges above put most small business sites between about $2,000 and $10,000, with law-firm-specific figures starting lower for simple sites. Larger or more custom sites cost more. Scope, copywriting and review time move the number most.

Why do the figures vary so much?

Publishers describe different things: a landing page, a template-based site, a custom build or a large integrated site. Compare like with like by checking what each quote includes.

Are these prices including GST?

Not consistently. Bark says its figures exclude GST and Creative Baguette quotes its care plan plus GST, while other pages do not say. Check each quote you receive.
